State of New Mexico Official Notary Seal Requirements
To become a notary in New Mexico you must:
- Be a resident of New Mexico;
- Be at least 18 years of age;
- Be able to read and write the English language;
- Not have plead guilty or nolo contendre to a felony or been convicted of a felony;
- Not have had a Notary Public commission revoked during the past five years.
You must order the notary stamp or seal ahead of time and affix it to your application. You can download an application here: New Mexico Notary Application and Instructions
The official notary seal shall be in the following form:
- Official Seal of the State of New Mexico
- Name of Notary Public (PRINTED)
- NOTARY PUBLIC – STATE OF NEW MEXICO
- My commission expires:____________________
Rubber stamps cannot have a signature line, and a round rubber stamp is not acceptable.
Affix the seal or rubber stamp on the application in the space provided and complete your application.
