State of New York Official Notary Stamp Guidelines

Although the use of a stamp/seal is not required by New York law, it is recommended for all notarial acts. 

According to New York law, notaries are required to print, typewrite or stamp the following information in black ink beneath their signature whether or not a seal is used:

• Notary's name
• The phrase "Notary Public State of New York"
• Name of county where notary qualified for commission
• Commission expiration date
• Their official character numbers (if required)
